Why You Need a Nintendo Switch
Our childhood gaming system has grown up
When we heard that Nintendo was coming out with a new game system, my middle child and I were ecstatic. He has taken after his Momma and absolutely loves just about everything Nintendo. I, like so many in my generation, grew up playing my Nintendo, especially The Legend of Zelda with the fancy gold cartridge, for hours on end. In recent years, we’ve had a Wii and Wii U for several years and they have had a ton of play time. So when we saw the announcements that Nintendo was coming up with a new game system with such incredible graphics we were eager to get our hands on it. Now that we’ve played on it I’ve got to tell you why you need a Nintendo Switch.

The flexibility of this system is refreshing
The system is quite unique in that it can go from a TV console game to a handheld game back to a TV console game in another room if you have more than one dock. If you start playing in the living room and someone else comes home and wants to play on another console game on the same TV you can just snap the controllers back onto the tablet part and play it anywhere else as a handheld game or you can relocate to the rec room or where ever you have the other doc plugged into another TV and continue playing. It also has some multi-player and online gaming options.
The Variety of Games
Now that this system has been out for a while there are now more and more games available. You can’t talk about the games without mentioning The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You can read my full review here, but needless to say this game is phenomenal. When you buy a Switch you need to make sure you pick this game up as well. The Mario games are also fantastic to play and are a must for any collection. We are greatly anticipating the release of the Yoshi’s Crafted World and Super Mario Maker 2. One of the other big games released with the Switch is Skyrim. The graphics are gorgeous the music is enchanting and the game is engaging, but my eldest child who plays mainly PC games was mildly disappointed because she couldn’t add mods like she does on her computer. The nice thing is that there are games available for every age group and skill level.
Accessories
If your house is anything like mine, you will want to invest in a second dock for your switch. That way, if someone else wants to play on another gaming system on the main TV then you can just relocate without having to fight over the TV. That being said, you will a screen protector and need a dock sock to protect the screen of your switch from being scratched by the dock. If you plan to use it as a portable gaming system you will need a carrying case. It’s also nice to pick up some extra controllers.
Why you need to buy a Nintendo Switch
You need to buy a Nintendo Switch to enliven the 10 year old you who spent hours playing Mario and Zelda because this system will have you falling in love with Nintendo all over again. Also, when your kids come home from practice and want to play on the main TV you can grab your Switch and relocate to the other room. Oh, and your kids will love it too.
